“Aparna Ramaswamy shows a rhythmic explosiveness and theatrical flair that is both forceful and fetching--
a kind of prayer through movement which alternates between rapture, bliss and devotion.”

--Rohan Preston,
Minneapolis Star Tribune

Experience the purity and ecstasy of the classical Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam, presented in a traditional margam concert format by acclaimed soloist Aparna Ramaswamy. Having performed at venues throughout the United States and abroad and the recipient of numerous awards including the Lakshmi Vishwanathan Endowment Prize, awarded by Krishna Gana Sabha in Chennai, India, Aparna carries on the unique tradition of her guru, legendary choreographer/soloist Alarmel Valli.

Through compelling movements, formal rigor, intricate footwork, and dramatic spontaneity, Samarpanam illuminates the unique harmony that exists between kinetic energy and lyrical grace. This performance offers audiences a rare chance to see Bharatanatyam performed by one of today's exemplary performers of this style.

"As Aparna Ramaswamy weaves patterns of grace and rhythm skillfully onstage, one feels encouraged at the rise of
gifted, young talent in Bharatanatyam."

--N. Vaidyanathan,
