Alarmel Valli, the foremost exponent of the Pandanallur tradition in Bharatanatyam--a classical dance style from Southern India--comes to Minnesota for one performance only. She is hailed as a creative artist who has extended the frontiers of the dance tradition, evolving a style uniquely her own.

Valli has performed extensively, both in India and in most of the cultural capitals of the world. She has been presented at the Bolshoi Theater (Moscow), the Theatre de la Ville (Paris), the New York Festival of Arts, the Hague Palace for the birthday celebrations of Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands, and as one of the world's three best soloists at the Jerusalem Dance Festival in Israel.

This project is made possible in part by a grant from the National Performance Network Community Fund. Major contributors include the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
